Krillion FAQ: Scoring Rules, Reset Time, Tiers & Answers

Last updated: 2026-10-13

This **Krillion FAQ** answers the questions players actually ask: how rarity scoring works, what the six tiers mean, when the daily dive resets, and how to score deeper. Every answer is short, current for 2026, and written from the official rules at krillion.io.

One important note up front: this is an independent companion site, not the official game. The official Daily Dive — the one scored attempt per day — lives at krillion.io. We exist to help you play it better: guides, hints, practice, and answers after the dive.

Use the questions below as a quick reference, or browse the guide library when you are ready to train a specific category.

The basics

What Krillion is, where the official game lives, and what this site is for.

Start here if you are new. The questions below cover the game itself, this site's relationship to it, and the cost — which is nothing for the daily dive.

Scoring and rarity tiers

How your answers are scored, what each tier means, and what counts as a good dive.

This is the section most players need. Krillion scores rarity, not knowledge: the fewer players who typed your answer, the deeper you sink. Memorize the six tiers and the depth math once, and every dive result will read clearly.

Rules, timing, and replays

Reset time, attempts per day, blanks, misspellings, and how to get more rounds in.

The mechanical questions: when the dive refreshes, what happens when you skip, whether typos count, and where to practice beyond your one daily attempt.

Getting better

Practical strategy: the two-second rule, specificity, and where to train each category.

Scores improve fast once you stop answering with your first thought. The questions below cover the core habits; the guide library covers all eight categories in depth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Krillion?

Krillion is a free daily trivia game at krillion.io. Every player worldwide gets the same seven prompts per day, about 25 seconds each. You type one answer per prompt, and rarer answers score more — each point sinks you ten metres deeper toward a 7,000-metre perfect dive.

Is this the official Krillion site?

No. This is an independent companion site with guides, hints, practice rounds, and answer archives. The official game — your one scored Daily Dive attempt per day — lives at krillion.io, which remains authoritative for rules, scoring, and reset times. We publish guides, practice tools, and answer archives — but validation, scoring, and accounts all belong to the official publisher.

How does Krillion scoring work?

Every accepted answer lands in one of six rarity tiers: Plankton (10), Too Clever (15), Schooler (30), Rare (60), Deep Cut (85), or One in a Krillion (100). Each point equals ten metres of dive depth, so seven perfect answers total 700 points and 7,000 metres.

What are the six Krillion rarity tiers?

From surface to trench floor: Plankton (10 pts, the obvious picks), Too Clever (15, the crowded 'clever' answers), Schooler (30, solid middling picks), Rare (60, genuinely uncommon), Deep Cut (85, very few players found it), and One in a Krillion (100, the rarest accepted answer).

When does the Krillion daily dive reset?

The new dive goes live once a day in the early-morning hours US Eastern time (around 12:30 a.m. ET). Every player worldwide gets the same seven prompts. A missed day is gone from your scored record — the official game at krillion.io is authoritative if timing ever changes.

How many prompts are in a Krillion dive?

Seven prompts per dive, the same set for every player that day. Categories rotate across geography, food, movies, sports, music, science, animals, and history. You answer each prompt once, and your seven scores add up to your total dive depth.

How much time do I get per prompt?

25 seconds per prompt, every prompt, every mode. The timer starts when the prompt appears. Decide your answer by the halfway mark — a typo on a brilliant answer scores the same as a blank.

What is a good Krillion score?

Reaching 100 points (1,000 metres) is already a strong dive — midnight-zone territory. Around 400 points puts you in the abyssal zone, which is excellent. Scores of 600–700 mean nearly every pick was rare and accepted: genuine trench territory.

What happens if I skip a prompt or leave it blank?

A blank or unsubmitted answer scores zero for that prompt, and you move on to the next one. You cannot go back. With five seconds left, always type the safest correct answer you know — even 10 Plankton points beat zero.

Do misspellings count in Krillion?

Usually not. The accepted-answer bank forgives some spelling variants, but most typos are rejected and score zero. This hits food, music, and place names hardest. Type deliberately, and learn the exact spellings of your go-to answers before the dive. When you add an answer to your rotation, drill its spelling by typing it three times from memory.

Can I play Krillion more than once per day?

The official Daily Dive allows one scored attempt per day — that is what keeps depth comparisons fair. For more rounds, the official site offers an unlimited mode and themed packs, and our homepage offers free unlimited practice where the timer runs but nothing counts toward your dive.

Is Krillion free to play?

Yes — the Daily Dive is completely free at krillion.io, no account needed for the core game. The official publisher also sells extras like a paid archive of past dives, but the daily puzzle itself, the scoring, and the depth zones cost nothing.

What does 'One in a Krillion' mean?

It is the top rarity tier: 100 points for an accepted answer almost nobody else typed. The name is the game's signature joke — you were, nearly literally, one in a krillion. Landing even one per dive is a result worth sharing.

What does 'Too Clever' mean in Krillion?

Too Clever (15 points) is the tier for answers that feel obscure but come from shared culture — the cult classic everyone cites, the pub-quiz fact everyone knows. It sits just above Plankton. The name is a warning: you outsmarted yourself into a crowded answer.

What does 'Plankton' mean in Krillion?

Plankton (10 points) is the bottom tier: the obvious, first-thought answers almost every player typed. It is not an insult — every player floats here sometimes. But if most of your dive is Plankton, your first instinct needs the two-second rule from our strategy guides.

How do I get better at Krillion?

Burn two seconds before answering — your first thought is everyone's first thought. List three valid answers mentally, then pick the most specific one you are sure is correct and spelled right. Then train your weakest category with our guides: geography and science respond fastest to drilling.

Do Krillion answers have to be in English?

The accepted-answer bank is English-language, so type answers in their standard English form — 'Germany' rather than 'Deutschland', transliterated names in their common English spelling. Diacritics and exact forms matter; learn each answer's bank spelling when you memorize it. When in doubt, use the spelling Wikipedia uses for its article title — the accepted bank generally follows standard reference spellings.

Can I play Krillion on my phone?

Yes — Krillion is browser-based and plays fine on mobile browsers, with the same seven prompts and timer. Type carefully on small keyboards, though: mobile typos are the number-one cause of rejected answers, and a rejected Deep Cut scores zero. If your keyboard autocorrects aggressively, consider disabling it during the dive — an autocorrected word still counts as submitted.
